Advancing Towards Legionnaire Safety PlusBangkok – Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok has been awarded a certificate of recognition as a model hotel free from Legionella contamination in accordance with environmental health standards. The recognition was presented as part of the project to develop surveillance and control models for Legionnaires’ disease in hotels located in major tourism destinations. The initiative is organised by the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, with the objective of elevating hygiene standards in tourism establishments and supporting sustainable tourism development in Thailand.

On this occasion, Wuthisak Pichayagan, General Manager of Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok, represented the hotel in receiving the honour. The award acknowledges hotels that have effectively implemented preventive measures and control systems for Legionella in line with environmental health standards, while also contributing to collaborative efforts to elevate the GREEN Health Hotel standard towards the Legionnaire Safety Plus model.

The project is implemented by the Department of Health through the Bureau of Environmental Health. Its objective is to strengthen surveillance and prevention systems for Legionnaires’ disease in hotels located in key tourism cities across the country. The programme also encourages hotels and resorts to adopt environmental health management practices that enhance hygiene and safety standards, thereby reinforcing confidence among travellers.

Additionally, Wuthisak Pichayagan, General Manager, was honoured to participate in a knowledge-sharing session and to exchange insights on the surveillance and control of Legionnaires’ disease in hotels located within key tourism destinations. The discussion also addressed the advancement of hotels in line with environmental health standards. Representatives from the Bureau of Environmental Health contributed their expertise and practical experience, fostering continued collaboration to enhance hygiene and safety standards across the hospitality sector.

The award ceremony was held on Thursday, 26 March 2026 at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel. Representatives from government agencies and hotel operators attended the event, working collectively to advance hygiene and safety standards for Thailand’s hospitality industry in line with international practices, while supporting the long-term sustainability of the tourism sector.
